In most of the catch ups that I do with Jane, a friend of mine who is an HR compliance officer, she talks about the fact that her role makes her feel unhappy. She is a very passionate HR professional, but the problem is the leadership in the company as she stated. she feels very stuck in a functional role that does not add up. Her manager acts as if he is a jail administrator, and he wants to enforce his management style.
Jane describes the shocking lack of consistency between what is being lectured about leadership in the company’s meetings and conferences and how she feels when she comes to work everyday. Her company like most other companies is full of managers whose ability to inspire and drive positive change is extremely limited. Check this out.
