If you look at any building whether a small one with few storeys or a skyscraper, there should be a functional drawing for the constructed building. Architects create the drawings and civil engineers supervise the construction based on these drawings. It does not work the other way around. The functionality and totality of the design are paramount to the durability and stability of the building. A poor design leads a faulty building. A poorly designed aircraft will not stay in the air for too long. It is most likely to crash.
