Imagine proposing to someone after a 45-minute coffee date. You don’t know their values, how they handle stress, or what their “DNA” really looks like. It sounds absurd, yet this is exactly how most companies approach recruitment.
We treat hiring like a transaction when it should be a courtship.
A true professional partnership—much like a life partnership—cannot be forged in one or two brief interviews. It requires time, patience, and a genuine investment of effort.
A résumé can list skills, but it cannot reveal character. To build a team that lasts, we must look past the technical abilities and interview for the human element:
- The DNA: Does their spirit align with ours?
- The Values: Do they believe in what we are building?
- The Long Game: Are we building a relationship, or just filling a seat?
Quit “dating” candidates. Get to know the real person behind the resume instead!
